A special message from CEO Chad E. Crow on the trying times that those in MS Agriculture are facing for 2024 and 2025. This message speaks to current economic conditions and encourages action from Capitol Hill.

This week, our Chief Executive Officer Chad E. Crow and Chief Credit Officer Bobby Spinks had the opportunity to visit with some of our legislators regarding the upcoming Farm Bill. Included in the group was U.S. Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi (pictured far left), U.S. Senator Steve Daines of Montana (pictured far right).

Mississippi Land Bank Chief Appraiser, Tyler Mullins, was amongst the delegates who attended. the 2024 Farm Credit Bank of Texas Association Leadership Program (ALP) to New York and Washington, D.C., last week.

Mississippi Land Bank is thrilled to return $7.5 million, or 51% of our net income, in cash patronage to our borrowers, based on our 2023 earnings. This means a decrease in our borrowers' effective interest rate for 2023 by approximately 82 basis points (0.82%). Since 1996, we've returned nearly $70 million in patronage to our customers.

After conducting an extensive nationwide search, the Board of Directors is proud to announce Chad Crow as the new Chief Executive Officer of Mississippi Land Bank effective April 8, 2024.

Please join us in wishing Abbott Myers well in his retirement and thanking him for his commitment to Mississippi Land Bank’s mission! After 27 years of service on the Mississippi Land Bank Board of Directors, Abbott Myers has retired effective December 31, 2023.

We are excited to once again help host the Celebrating Agriculture tailgate at MSU Ag Day, this Saturday Nov. 4 as the bulldogs take on Kentucky for Homecoming. The tailgate starts at 3:30 p.m. until with Genuine MS fried chicken and catfish and some delicious MSU ice cream!

Many people do not know that there are over 600,000 Mississippians who will struggle to put food on the table this holiday season.

Mississippi Land Bank borrowers Matthew and Kayla Poe of Pontotoc took their interests in agriculture to Capitol Hill on June 22. As participants in the 2023 Farm Credit Young Leaders Program, the couple met with Congressman Trent Kelly and staff on their Hill visits.

Meet our summer interns: Austin and Drew! Hernando native, Austin Sandifer, is a senior at Mississippi State, majoring in Agricultural Science. His plan is to one day pursue a career in ag management. New Albany native, Drew Vance, is a senior finance major at Mississippi State. Upon graduation, he plans to work in ag finance.

In May 2023, the Mississippi Land Bank Board of Directors named Rebecca "Becky" Beard as board-elected director. Ms. Beard was born and raised in Sardis, Mississippi, and graduated from the University of Mississippi. She has been a partner with William, Pitts, & Beard PLLC, one of the leading CPA firms in and throughout the Hernando, Memphis and North Mississippi area, since 2001.
